Computer Vision Sprayers

Similar to facial recognition software and self-driving technology, advanced spraying systems can discern between crops, weeds, and bodies of water. Through either GPS or computer vision software, this technology automatically shuts off the sprayer when over a pond or stream. Some advanced systems even provide individual control over each nozzle—allowing the operator to spray away from water sources, native plants, and nearby roads.

An emerging area of autonomous technology called “auto-level” allows farmers to spray evenly as they traverse irregular terrain. Systems equipped with ultrasonic sensors send pulses of sound to the ground and measure how long it takes for these sound waves to bounce back. Using this data, sprayers can quickly adjust spray height to the optimal, most efficient angle.A
